Why We Love Essential Oils

Have you ever enjoyed the scent of a beautiful flower?  Of course you have! Well, the distinctive smell of each flower or plant are its essential oils. These naturally occurring aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. Essential oils protect the plant as well as play a role in plant pollination.

Essential oils have enhanced lives for thousands of years, offering a variety of benefits from cosmetic and dietary purposes to spiritual and religious use.

According to healingscents, “Evidence and recorded history have both shown that the Egyptians used aromatic oils as early as 4500 B.C.E. They became renowned for their knowledge of cosmetology, ointments and aromatic oils. The most famous of their herbal preparations “Kyphi” was a mixture of 16 ingredients that could be used as incense, perfume or medicine.” Statues were anointed with oils by their followers and Pharaohs had their own special blends for war, love, meditation, and so on. China, India, Greece and other parts of Europe all took part in different variations of the ritual of essential oil use for health and wellness.

This ancient tradition can enhance your emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness in extremely beneficial ways, from ailments of the skin like acne, rosacea and hormonal imbalances, to digestive issues, anxiety and nervous system health. Essential oils can be used in complex blends or individually on their own. For example, when inhaled, peppermint creates a boost of energy. Frankincense is known for soothing anxiety and depression. Individually these are both beneficial. When added together they create an energizing and healing effect, creating layers of health benefits.

Extracted through steam distillation, resin tapping and cold pressing, pure essential oils are more powerful than the botanicals from which they come.

Therefore, they truly are a pure essence of nature.

Lica Cole firmly believes in the power of essential oils, especially for skin care, as all of our products contain a number of rare and essential oils.

Here are a few of our favorite blends* that are sure to promote health and good vibes:

*If you don’t have a diffuser, we strongly recommend you invest in one, as these recipes work best when diffused.

1. Energizing Blend

  • 2 drops Peppermint
  • 1 drop Frankincense
  • 2 drops Lemon

For this blend, you can add your oils to a dark colored glass bottle and mix well by rolling the bottle in between your hands. Add the appropriate number of drops from your created blend to your diffuser by following the manufacturer’s instructions for your diffuser brand and model.

2. Happiness Blend

  • 3 drops Bergamot
  • 1 drop Grapefruit
  • 2 drops Ylang-ylang

*Follow as instructions as above

3. Calming Blend

  • 7 drops Roman Chamomile
  • 5 drops Lavender
  • 1 fl. Ounce Almond Oil

Giving yourself a foot massage with this relaxing oil or apply oils to your diffuser. Since both Roman Chamomile and Lavender are naturally sedating, is it recommended you use it to simply relax and do not plan to drive.

If you prefer to make a diffuser blend, make a blend with a ratio of 2 drops Roman Chamomile to 1 drop Lavender and add to your diffuser.
