The Health, Beauty and Spiritual Benefits of Ylang-Ylang

Although recently rising in popularity, chances are you may not have heard of the essential oil of ylang-ylang. Ylang-ylang essential oil is amazingly effective in relaxing, reviving, calming and bestowing a feeling of rejuvenation. At Lica Cole, we use this oil in some of our products as it blends well with bergamot, lavender, and sandalwood, some for our favorite essential oils. We also love it for its reputation for healing various skin and hair issues as well as healing on an emotional or spiritual level.

Origin

Ylang-ylang comes from the flowers of a ylang-ylang tree, commonly found in the rain forests of certain Asian and South Pacific Islands, like Philippines, Polynesia, and Indonesia. It is extracted by steam distillation which is when the plant material is placed in boiling water and the steam fused with the oils of the plant are separated.

The smell of ylang-ylang is quite powerful and slightly floral. It is used in a number of women’s fragrances and products as well as aromatherapy treatments due to this unique and pleasant aroma.Health Benefits
